Bomb Threat on Mumbai-Delhi Indigo Flight Turns Out to Be a Hoax.
An Indigo flight traveling from Mumbai to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad following a bomb threat on board. Authorities later confirmed on Wednesday that the bomb threat was a false alarm. The incident took place on Tuesday night, with the plane carrying around 200 passengers and crew members. The threat was reported by an anonymous individual through a tweet, which led to swift action by the authorities.
Security Forces Thoroughly Inspect Plane After Landing.
After being alerted by Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC), the pilot opted for an emergency landing at the nearest airport in Ahmedabad. Upon landing at midnight, security forces immediately began an extensive inspection of the aircraft. The 200 passengers and crew members were safely deboarded, and the plane was thoroughly checked. By morning, no explosives or suspicious items were found. The flight eventually resumed its journey to Delhi at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Multiple Indigo Flights Delayed Due to False Bomb Threats.
In recent weeks, there has been a spike in false bomb threats targeting various flights. On Monday, bomb threats were received for three international flights departing from Mumbai, causing one flight bound for New York to be diverted to Delhi. Additionally, two Indigo flights faced significant delays due to similar threats. After investigations, authorities found no suspicious items on any of the planes involved.
Six Other Indian Planes Targeted with Bomb Threats.
Bomb threats have disrupted several other Indian flights as well. On Tuesday, an Air India flight en route from Delhi to Chicago, carrying 211 passengers, was forced to divert to Canada due to a bomb threat. Additionally, six other Indian planes have been targeted. In another incident, the Singapore Armed Forces deployed fighter jets to escort an Air India Express flight after it received a bomb threat. Fortunately, the plane landed safely at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
