President Xi Jinping praised China’s resilience and achievements during the Year of the Dragon at a high-level reception to welcome the Chinese New Year. Speaking on Monday, Xi highlighted the country’s progress in advancing Chinese modernization despite complex and challenging circumstances over the past year.

President Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, reflected on the nation’s accomplishments, stating, “In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow.”
China implemented comprehensive policies to address challenges, stabilize its economy, and achieve significant progress in technological and industrial innovation. The country maintained stable employment and consumer prices while continuing to act as a major driver of global economic growth.

As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi highlighted the cultural significance of the snake as a symbol of wisdom and vitality. He encouraged the Chinese people to remain confident and hopeful, embracing challenges with an enterprising spirit.
“Our historical course to build a strong country and rejuvenate the nation will not be blocked,” Xi affirmed, expressing optimism for the future.

The reception, attended by over 2,000 people, included senior officials such as Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng. Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to Chinese citizens across all regions, including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas communities.
