Amid rising terrorist activity in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, police and security agencies have issued a high alert in Doda, Kishtwar, and Kathua districts ahead of Republic Day. These districts, which share borders with Himachal Pradesh, have recently witnessed a surge in terrorist movements, raising security concerns.

Sources indicate that there is a significant threat of terrorist attacks in these areas. Reports suggest that two groups of terrorists have been sighted in the upper regions of Doda. However, security forces are still determining whether these are new groups or remnants of older ones.

The geographical interconnectivity of Doda, Kishtwar, and Kathua has made these districts particularly vulnerable to terrorist activities. Past attacks in these areas have caused substantial casualties among security forces, further highlighting the need for vigilance.

In response to the heightened threat, a high alert has also been issued along the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua borders. Additional police forces have been deployed, and special security measures are being implemented. Jammu and Kashmir Police DIG Shiv Kumar emphasized the possibility of cross-border infiltration attempts during Republic Day, necessitating increased security.
Crackdown on Over Ground Workers
Doda SSP Sandeep Mehta stated that police operations against over ground workers (OGWs) assisting terrorists have intensified. Over the past two weeks, nine OGWs have been charged. Police units remain on maximum alert, focusing on identifying and neutralizing anti-national elements.
Republic Day Security Reinforced
Security forces have received intelligence about potential terrorist attacks targeting Republic Day celebrations. In response, police and army teams have been placed on high alert to thwart any threats. Surveillance and monitoring have been significantly increased in Doda, Kishtwar, and Kathua to ensure no untoward incidents occur.
