Hezbollah’s Media Spokesperson Flees Press Conference Amid Israeli Airstrike Warning.
Israel has been persistently launching assaults on Hezbollah, an Iran-aligned militant group. In the conflict ignited by Hamas’ offensive, Hezbollah threw its weight behind Hamas by launching strikes on Israel, which led the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to demolish several Hezbollah strongholds. Hezbollah operatives, perpetually wary of Israeli retaliation, once again demonstrated their fear. During a press briefing in the Dahiya sector of southern Beirut, Hezbollah’s media spokesperson, Mohammad Afif, hastily exited the scene when news of an imminent Israeli bombardment reached him, an incident widely circulated on social media.
Afif’s sudden departure followed reports of Israeli airstrikes.
In the middle of his address, Mohammad Afif was informed about an Israeli Defense Forces airstrike, prompting him to immediately abandon the conference in concern for his safety. IDF’s Arabic spokesperson, Avichai Adraee, had reportedly issued a stern warning, urging immediate evacuation. Later, Afif issued a brief statement, asserting confidence in soon securing Israeli captives, despite clarifying that none were currently in Hezbollah’s custody.
Afif also claimed responsibility for the attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence.
Recently, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack on the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Although Netanyahu was absent at the time, narrowly escaping the strike, Afif, the media spokesperson for Hezbollah, unequivocally declared responsibility. He emphasized that negotiations were impossible as long as hostilities continued.
Iran orchestrated Hezbollah’s strike on Israel following Hamas’ assault.
The volatile conflict, which erupted on October 7 last year, began when Hamas militants carried out an assault on Israel, resulting in over 1,200 Israeli deaths and numerous hostages taken. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared war, and over 40,000 Palestinian casualties have since been reported. Iran, backing Hamas, directed Hezbollah to attack Israel, further escalating the conflict. In retaliation, Israel has eliminated several key figures from both Hamas and Hezbollah leadership.
