Political excitement is at its peak as the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections draw closer. The battle for the 70-member assembly is shaping up to be a triangular contest among the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress. Each party is leaving no stone unturned to secure a win in this high-stakes election.

BJP’s Push for a Comeback After 27 Years

The Delhi elections are a matter of prestige for the BJP, which has been out of power in the national capital for 27 years. After successive victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, the party is determined to replicate its success in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken charge of the campaign, signaling the importance of these elections for the BJP.

The party has released its first list of candidates, naming contenders for 29 seats. Notable among them are former MP Pravesh Verma, who will challenge AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who will face AAP leader Atishi in Kalkaji.

While the BJP has announced candidates for nearly half the seats, discussions are ongoing for the remaining 41. A Central Election Committee meeting, attended by senior leaders including PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda, focused on finalizing the party’s strategy and candidate list.

Sources reveal that a separate meeting between PM Modi, Amit Shah, and General Secretary BL Santosh was held to discuss the BJP’s approach against AAP. The second list of candidates is expected to be announced soon.

AAP’s Strategy for a Third Term

The Aam Aadmi Party is gearing up to defend its stronghold and secure a third consecutive term in Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his team have announced candidates for almost all seats and are focusing their efforts on countering the BJP’s narrative.

AAP leaders have accused the BJP of misleading voters with false promises and propaganda. Kejriwal has consistently criticized the BJP for failing to address the real issues facing Delhiites. The party is banking on its track record of governance and welfare schemes to win voter trust.

Congress Eyes a Comeback

Congress, which has been out of power in Delhi for over a decade, is looking to end its political drought. The party is adopting an aggressive approach, aiming to challenge both BJP and AAP.

Congress leaders have hinted at a major campaign overhaul, with plans to launch a “surgical strike” on their rivals. The party hopes to leverage dissatisfaction among voters and position itself as a credible alternative.

PM Modi’s Call to Action

During the Central Election Committee meeting, PM Modi urged BJP leaders to intensify their efforts, emphasizing the growing public inclination toward the party. He called for exposing the “lies” of Arvind Kejriwal and making voters aware of AAP’s shortcomings.

Modi’s message reflects the BJP’s determination to regain its foothold in Delhi. The party sees the elections as an opportunity to rebuild its image and strengthen its position ahead of the 2026 national elections.

An Exciting Triangular Contest

The Delhi Assembly elections promise to be an intense and closely fought battle. For the BJP, it is a chance to reclaim its lost prestige. For AAP, it is about consolidating its governance legacy. And for Congress, it is a potential comeback moment.

The outcome of this triangular contest will not only shape Delhi’s political future but also have implications for national politics. As all three parties campaign with full force, the voters of Delhi hold the key to deciding the direction of this political showdown.
