BSF Constable Foils Armed Infiltration Attempt by Bangladeshi Nationals.
Malda, West Bengal – In a remarkable display of bravery, a female constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt by armed Bangladeshi nationals near the Kutadah border outpost on Wednesday. The incident took place in the Malda sector, where a group of five to six armed infiltrators attempted to breach the border fence near Ardhapur.
Courageous Stand Against Armed Infiltrators
According to the BSF South Bengal Frontier, the lone constable, part of the 88th BSF battalion, confronted the infiltrators without hesitation. DIG NK Pandey, spokesperson for the South Bengal Frontier, praised her for her valor and quick action in the face of a potentially dangerous situation.
“The constable displayed exemplary courage and acted decisively despite knowing that the Bangladeshi nationals were carrying lethal weapons. While it remains unclear whether they were smugglers, their illegal entry and attempt to break through the border fence raised serious concerns,” DIG Pandey stated.
Quick Response Prevents Security Breach
The constable, who was on duty during the second shift, noticed the group advancing towards the fence and immediately raised an alarm over the radio, alerting her colleagues. However, despite repeated warnings, the infiltrators continued their aggressive advance.
“Without thinking of her own safety, she bravely moved towards the group, challenging them head-on,” Pandey added. “By then, they had reached dangerously close to the fence. Had the constable not intervened, they would have damaged the barrier and possibly gained entry into Indian territory.”
Infiltrators Escape Amid Dense Fog
The constable’s courageous action, including warning shots, forced the infiltrators to retreat. Taking advantage of the dense fog, they fled the scene. While it is uncertain whether any intruders were injured, their escape prevented further escalation of the situation.
Women Constables Proving Their Mettle
Speaking on the role of female personnel in border security, DIG Pandey emphasized, “Women constables deployed on active duty at the India-Bangladesh border have demonstrated unparalleled ability, dedication, and bravery. Their presence significantly enhances our capability to prevent criminal activities and safeguard the nation’s borders.”
The BSF continues to maintain heightened vigilance along the India-Bangladesh border, ensuring the security of the nation against infiltration threats.
