“Arvind Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Ignoring Slum Dwellers”
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for neglecting slum dwellers. Kejriwal accused the BJP of seeking votes from slum residents during elections but abandoning their issues afterward. His remarks come as the Delhi Assembly elections approach, intensifying the political rivalry between AAP and BJP.
Kejriwal’s Criticism of BJP’s Approach
Speaking to the media after visiting a slum in Shakur Basti, Kejriwal said, “The BJP remembers slum dwellers only during elections. This is a party of the rich. Slum dwellers have no meaning for them. These people consider slum dwellers as insects.”
Kejriwal further alleged that the BJP plans to demolish slums if it gains power in Delhi. He assured slum residents that AAP would continue to fight for their rights and prevent their displacement.
Allegations Against Amit Shah
Kejriwal accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of using derogatory language against slum dwellers during a recent meeting. He said, “Such language does not befit a person holding a post like the Home Minister. Any civilized person will be embarrassed to hear his words.”
Despite his criticism, Kejriwal clarified that he holds no personal enmity with Amit Shah. “I have not come into politics for my respect but for the respect of the country and the people. Let Amit Shah ji say whatever he wants to say,” he remarked.
AAP’s Strategy to Garner Support
Kejriwal’s statements highlight AAP’s strategy to align itself with slum dwellers by questioning BJP’s policies. The party aims to position itself as a defender of the underprivileged, contrasting its approach with what it claims is BJP’s neglect.
A Crucial Issue in Upcoming Elections
As Delhi’s Assembly elections draw near, slum dwellers are emerging as a key voter base. A direct contest between BJP and AAP is anticipated in these areas, with both parties vying to secure their support. The issue of slum rehabilitation and development is likely to play a pivotal role in shaping the electoral outcome.
Kejriwal’s allegations against the BJP reflect AAP’s focus on addressing the concerns of slum dwellers ahead of the elections. By emphasizing their commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged, AAP seeks to strengthen its position in this crucial voter segment. As the political battle intensifies, the response from BJP and its strategy to counter these accusations will be closely watched.
