Saudi Arabia Arrests Over 21,000 Illegal Immigrants in Week-Long Crackdown.

The Saudi Arabian government has launched a large-scale crackdown on illegal immigrants, arresting 21,477 individuals in just one week, from January 30 to February 5. This campaign, led by Saudi security forces in collaboration with other government agencies, aims to curb illegal residency and enforce national security regulations. The Saudi Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrests on Saturday, signaling that such operations will continue with full force.
Thousands Arrested for Violating Saudi Laws
According to a report by Saudi Gazette, the arrested individuals were found guilty of violating different laws:
- 13,638 individuals were detained for breaching residency laws.
- 4,663 individuals were caught for breaking border security regulations.
- 3,176 individuals were found violating labor laws.
The Saudi authorities have also intensified efforts to deport illegal residents. A total of 28,661 individuals were sent to their respective embassies to obtain travel documents, while 2,919 individuals were in the process of booking their travel tickets. Additionally, 8,733 individuals were expelled from the country.
Border Security Tightened Amid Infiltration Attempts
Saudi security forces are actively monitoring illegal border crossings. During the crackdown:
- 1,316 individuals were arrested while attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally.
- 40% of these detainees were Yemeni nationals.
- 58% were Ethiopian nationals.
- 77 individuals were caught attempting to leave the country illegally.
The government has also arrested 13 individuals for aiding and abetting illegal immigrants by providing shelter, transportation, or employment. A total of 37,120 illegal residents (including 33,547 men and 3,573 women) are currently facing legal action.
Strict Punishments for Those Aiding Illegal Immigration
The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning that those assisting illegal immigrants—whether by providing shelter, employment, or transportation—could face:
- Up to 15 years in prison
- Heavy fines
- Confiscation of their vehicles and properties
Authorities have urged Saudi citizens and residents to report any suspicious activities related to illegal immigration to law enforcement agencies.

Illegal immigration has become a significant issue in Saudi Arabia, leading to economic, social, and security concerns. The government has implemented strict measures, including periodic crackdowns, to ensure compliance with national laws.
